Dupont got it's first full time police chief, George Legezdh was appointed at the September's meeting in 1968. Council also named five part-time officers who would be assigned by Legezdh, and paid $1.25 per hour.

In Dupont, fifty families were evacuated due to the flooding of Mill, Collins, and Lidy Creeks, September 27, 1985, due to Hurricane Gloria rains.

In 1965, Joe "Buddy" Vida and Albert Costello were canidates to become Dupont's seventh Mayor. Costello won the election.

Mary Joe Kotula of Dupont grew an 11-pound cabbage. She made 24 servings of "Golomki", a spare ribs and cabbage dish. October 1978

In high school football in 1953, Dupont beat Dallas Township 38-7. George Pearage had two touchdowns and his brother John scored one on a 50-yard run. Edmund Kotula also had a touchdown run and John Rossi caught a touchdown pass from "Clever" quarterback Cas Dylo.

The Luzerne County Commissioners approved a vote recount for two elections in Dupont. The county said it recounted votes in the mayor's race and one council race. In the mayor's race George Legezdh defeated Bernie Zielinski, 730-650. Zielinski had defeated Legezdh in the Democratic primary and Legezdh won the Republican primary with write-in votes. The council race to be recounted showed Ed Strucke leading Ed Kowalczyk 684-672 in 1993.

Felix Domoracki of Dupont got a 300 pound black bear on November 24 in 1958 hunting near Tobyhanna. It was his first bear in 17 years of trying. It took him and his four companions four hours to drag the bear out of the woods.
